Octavia VRS TDi PD

Featured Replies

I have a 2.0 VRS TDi PD, When driving fairly slowly at low revs there is a vibration type noise coming from the front of the car. Obviously I can only hear inside the car so not sure exactly where its coming from. I have taken it to an exhaust place to see if there was anything wrong but they coulnt see anything. They said it might be the heat shield.

Has anyone else had this problem and what have they done to sort it out?

Its starting to get on my nerves now as I hate noises that shouldnt be there. It does seem to be getting worse/louder though.

Cheers

That seems to be the noise that im getting from my car to, it is also getting on my nerves. i can also hear it if i give the car quick blips on the throttle when still, so i going to get a friend to help me track it down.

Not sure whether yours is an engine noise or just something loose under the bonnet. I had a similar rattling noise which turned out to be loose fins on the top of the plastic engine cover. Remedied with superglue.

I had a similar thing too, it was a combination of a loose badge on the engine cover and the plastic air intake pipe rubbing at the front of the engine bay. Mine was a Superb though but it might help you in tracking it down.

You should check the plastic engine cover. The earlier ones had a bad design and came off.

Tried the engine cover, removed it all together, noise still there. The air filter ducting/boxing etc is quite loose so I will try doing something with that next..

Played around with air box and ducting as it was quite loose and rattled when pushed about. Wedged a piece of wood between the filter box and duting to stop all of the movement. Its been like that for a few days now and the rattle seems to have been cured. Just got to figure out a better way of wedging the plastics now. Cant leave a piece of wood in there, looks a bit pants....

Thanks for everyones help.
