Is the factory stereo connector ISO?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if the standard Skoda Symphony tape/radio uses a standard ISO connector? My stereo is faulty but I still have my old Ford 6000CD stereo from my mk2 mondeo that got scrapped. I have found (after a lot of searching) an adapter to convert standard ISO to Ford. The connectors look similar, but my Skoda has an extra block, that I am hoping is just the CD changer in the boot.

I believe the Skoda connector is (link below)a standard ISO for Skoda Symphony. I have seen ebay item 140543364796 that I am hoping will do the job.

Once I have got the wiring sorted, I need to adjust my dash. I can't find a stereo cage to fit anywhere, so I guess I will need to work out some other way to secure it. The standard Ford size seems the be something slightly smaller than the standard double din sizes.

Any help or advice would be really appreciated....

Yes it is but you will probably need to switch the permanent and switched lives around (red and yellow wires) to stop the stereo resetting all of its setting when the ignition goes off :)

Does the extra block look like two slotted together? One purple if I recall.. If so that's the CD changer as you say.

The diagnostic wire may need to cut too

Uses remote or ariel iirc

Can blow central locking otherwise

diagnostic k-line is on pin 3 of the power block. Don't connect this to the stereo, as it can damage OBD readers by sending 12v where they don't like it.

The block that controls the cd changer has much smaller pins, and is green or blue iirc. Just ignore this one.

Whay do you want to fit a ford stereo anyway?

funny enough im having iso cable probs at min ... ie no perm live ... anyone got a wiring diagram for this or know exactly which wires to cut / switch ... cheers

Basically I have the old ford stereo from my old car in the garage, and at the moment I dont have the spare cash to replace with anything flash.

Is anyone able to give a list of what colour wire is which? I know on my ford connector which is live, live ignition, dimmer, earth, and the 4 different speaker + & - wires, but on my car they are different colours. I take it the two large connector blocks are where these wires are, and the block that splits into 3 is for the cd changer?

Yep, the 2 large blocks are all you need.

I don't have the colours, but I have a pinout for the skoda stereo. Its attached.

Thank you so much! That is just what I need. Maybe one day I will get a nice mp3 head unit, but for now the 10 year old ford one will have to do. Really appreciate the help... :0)
