Am I being fobbed off by dealer ?

Featured Replies

I've been waiting since early Feb for my new Yeti and was eventually given a build week for the end of May. As it was getting close to the 18 week deadline for the Skoda late delivery goodwill payment, I e-mailed the dealer to ensure that they would honour the payment. I didn't receive any confirmation about this but, all of a sudden I was told that the car had arrived on 7th June - the exact 18 week deadline date !

However, because I needed a personal reg.no. transfer, I was told that the paperwork would take up to 10 days, which would have taken us to last Friday the 17th. The dealer rang me this morning to say the tax still hadn't come back and, although they had tried to chase it up with the local DVLA office they couldn't find anything out because of data protection.

I am starting to suspect that the car didn't actually arrive on the 7th (is there any way of finding this out ?) and I'm being fobbed off in order for the dealer to avoid paying the £150. Does anyone think the same or am I being paranoid ?!

Easy - pay your dealer a visit and ask to see the car - they cannot refuse as it is yours!

Yes, I'm sure the car is there now. The question is did it come in on the 7th or a few days later, in which case I would be demanding my goodwill late payment !!

Only thing I can think of is ask to see the delivery sheet which is provided for each car at the point of delivery to the dealer - this is provided as a check sheet and is used to confirm the car is delivered in pristene condition and is to the correct specification!! The person who oversees the delivery to the dealership has to sign and date it as acceptance of the car!

Hope this helps!

Phone SUK with your order number and ask them when the car was delivered to your dealer. But sounds very suspicious to me!

I never phoned my dealer to ask where my car was and got the SUK order number as soon as I could. So you get the news from the horse's mouth and not via a dealer. I'd still phone them and insist that you want your SUK order number. Or phone SUK and explain why you need it.
