Return UK dragging 11.5cwt

Featured Replies

Returned UK yesterday c/w trailer(IFT P6) laden with about 10cwt of 'stuff' - 11.5cwt all up.

Filled up at a Supermarket about 2 miles from port @ Roscoff - used the auto pilot up the dual carriageway Plymouth / M/way to within 10 miles my mum's place - the car sailed up the Devon banks(backside Telegraph Hill etc) at a steady 70(looks round sheepishly) and then the M5 at 75 - mfd indicated mpg 46.7 - filled up to same point in spout 19.1 litres - covered 195 miles - 10.21 miles / litre - actual 46.4 --- well pleased with this effort

salut a Nth Worcs

Not bad, but it does depend on how big the trailer is.

Beware of those speeds on the M5, the Police forces down that way are very pro-active over towing speeding.

And finally, towing weights is one area that we have metricated!!

Trailer a mod'ed P6 bed 2m x 1.2m x 0.7m walls on big balloon tyres

Wgts 0.5tonne stuff 0.75ish all up

Well aware of plods escapades in Sth Avon / Somerset / Devon - lots of unmarked cars - beamers peugeots etc

Also anyone any ideas, was passed by a very flashy Range Rover Sport in White, with Ferrari logo's etc and a reg of F1 OOD (or OOO) Am aware Mansell lives somewhere in Devon - just curious

Pictures?! I'd love to see a Yeti with a big trailer like that! Yes I'm sad!

Now back chez nous, pics attached, after return with about a tonne all up(above recommended weight for unbraked rig) - car handled it brilliantly, Telegraph hill summit(by the racecourse) sth Exeter at about 40mph in 4th starting at about 65 - well pleased as 3 peeps a dog and a large B&O (35-40kg)crt tv on board.

The trailer is a standard Ifor Williams P6 unbraked unit with a front ladder rack and coachbuilt(sort of) side extensions giving an overall sidewall height of 70cm with a bed size of 2.00 x 1.20 c/w purpose prepared cover(local tarp repairer/mftrer) - the whole runs on balloon tyres to increase carrying capacity - suppose the whole kit cost about £600 - trailer fleabay bargain along with ply for sides again fleabay.

My froggy neighbours are well impressed as Daxara etc here are slightly cheaper but, very flimsy in comparison - in fact a local grass cutter / garden maintenance friend wants a twin axle job if one crops up!

salut

That is a ver butch trailer! I like it very much! One day hopefully I can upgrade my French built Franc trailer to a lovely built-in-Wales Ifor!
