Skoda wheels

Hi

Brand new to the site so please be gentle with me.

I am about to take hold of a Superb 1.8TSI Elegance and was wondering something about my wheel choices. I have ordered the Thermisto 18" wheels which I think look great but in winter I was looking to put a set of winter tyres on a 'spare' set and use them instead.

Do I have to stick with 18" wheels (maybe due to set up of car I don't know about) or could I downsize them to something smaller (and cheaper) but put a bigger tyre on during the snowy months? Any suggestions of what has already been done would be gratefully received.

Welcome.

No you do not have to stick with 18", you can get plenty of 16" Audi alloys that are the correct PCD (5x112) and ET (45) that will fit, then you want 205/55/16 winter tyres to suit

This is exactly what I did last year before picking my Superb up.

Personally I would stick to genuine VAG wheels as these will have the correct centre bore size (57.1mm) and will be much better made than most aftermarket wheels.

Thank you that is very helpful. :D

No worries.

A word of advise, when you get the car get a nice couple of coats of wax onto the Thermisto's, otherwise the polished surfaces will soon suffer from the dreaded 'white worm' (water getting under the lacquer and corroding the alloy) that all untreated diamond cut wheels suffer from.

Something like FK1000p is very good for this.

Hi and welcome aboard.
