Ignition feed within the engine compartment

Featured Replies

Hi im looking to wire some led lights at the under side of the bonnet so when i do work on them i can have some light rather then rely on sunlight atm.

so where could i wire them in the engine compartment so the electricity only comes on when the ignition is turn to acc? the reason being i dont want the car's battery gets drained when the car is at the garage if the mechanic just leave the bonnet open and the lights on.

many thanks in advance!!! :)

I hooked up a spare white LED bulb to an armoured cable and a couple of crocodile clips, and folded the whole lot next to battery in plenum chamber. Whenever I need it, I just clip it to the battery.

LEDs in the engine compartment will not last very long because it is too hot there, and also a lot of sand/rain/dirt flying about at speed. Battery area is relatively shielded and easily accessible, plus I can direct the light anywhere I want.
