Skoda bodywork question

Featured Replies

I am looking to replace the black plastic piece on the front and rear bumpers. I am unsure on the technical term so i would appreciate if someone could tell me, also if anyone can recommend a place to get them, without having to buy a complete bumper. I have attached a photo showing what i am talking about.

I would imagine your local dealer would be able to order those for you. Shouldn't have to buy a complete bumper

Just thought i could get a quicker answer here....

Not sure what the official name of that piece is, but probably something like rear bumper protection guard, but why buy a new one which you will have to paint anyway. Get some 320 grit and some 600 grit sandpaper and some masking tape and then mask the surrounding colooured areas to stop them getting scratched and sand the grain down (wont take long with 320 and then plastic prime and paint it. If you dont fancy the painting bit then go to a bodyshop who will prime and paint that for about £50 if you have done the hardest part in preping it.

While your at it then might aswell do the side strips

PS i actually have a new set of the side strips in black if you wanted to get them colour coded off the car. I bought them for my vRS but the shape is different on them so dont need them anymore.

They are called bumper mouldings and yes they can be replaced as they are simply held on with clips.

As the ones fitted to your car are not colour coded replacing them should be an easy and relatively cost effective DIY.

Non genuine patent ones are readily available from most motor factors and eBay.
