Which DAS-6 combination?

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I am trying to get even more into looking after the VRS, and now starting to look at a DA polisher as it has quite a lot of light swirls, and my hand polishing attempts so far have been near useless.

I have been looking at these combination sets:

Do you guys have any opinions on which is the better set?

I'd find it much easier buying as a set like that, as opposed to all separately.

Many thanks,

Stu.

I`ve not used the DAS6 myself but if you join the cyc forum i`m sure there be loads of guys on there who will be able to give you some advice on them

Either the Sonus and Menzerna kit, or the Lake Country and Menzerna kit

Menzerna's polishes work well on VAG paint, but their pads take a lot of getting used to, and the Sonus or LC pads are more user-friendly.

Sonus pads and Menz polish are good combos.

I have a Kestrel DAS6 and its excellent

great results with it too.

Keep your eyes out for another shabby to shiney thread.

Many thanks for the replies, looks like it will be the Sonus and Menz combo.

I am excited, hopefully I will have one of those threads soon! It's not shabby, just swirl marks and a few odd bits n bobs which need sorting! :)

Hi Mate,

Did you get my Pm ?

cheers

Replied, cheers.

I use the sonus pads. Need the toughest one really for most VAG applications. I have the Menzerna polishes too, but I have had very reasonable results even just using Autoglym SRP.

I definitely love my DAS-6

Thank you all for the replies...I ordered...

DAS-6 Pro DA Machine

Menz Polish (Power Gloss, Intensive Polish, Final Finish)

Sonus SFX 1,2,3,4 Normal Pads

Sonus SFX 1,2,3,4 Spot Pads

2 rolls of 3M masking tape

I am going to get some IPA and some distilled water for the post-polish, pre-wax prep.

Also, I am sick of paying tons for clay lube, so I am going to buy yet more spray bottles (garage is filled with them) and just do a shampoo mix with water!

Again, thanks for all the replies, hopefully will have some results to show for it soon!

(I also know I am going to get collared into doing everyone elses car now - which reminds me, how long do pads last on average?)

Admitedly though, it is a 21st present so I am more than happy to do other peoples cars...sad I know, a DA machine polisher for my birthday :)

i normally clay just as the car has been rinsed so still soaking wet, has been enough to lube.

Try Bilt Hamber, it is designed to use water as lubrication.

Might also want to invest in a PTG esp with some of the pads and polish combo.

Agree with that comment although on a DA it's pretty difficult to burn through lacquer........ :|

What I would suggest is, wait until the new Megs Microfibre DA System is released in the UK, think a lot of people will buy that kit.........

Just get polish and pads for minor correcting, don't go for hard pads/polish, these will need refining afterwards and its much better to do that with more practise.

Thanks for the replies guys, but I already got the kit I mentioned a week or so ago.

I am only going to be using the finishing and polishing pads, I highly doubt I will have to use cutting polish or pads.

Cheers.
