check your Ignition Control Module now!

Featured Replies

My Ignition Control Module (ICM) failed because all the heatsink (green paste on the picture) was gone in time and cooling was impossible.

I suggest to check yours,if the heatsink is gone, use some heatsink for computer processor.

I paid 105 Pounds for aftermarket Beru

Chech if the ICM has enough heatsink on the contact side

mine doesnt have one of those(unless its somewhere else in the engine bay).... must be for export models

As far as I know this one is for the 1.8T AUM or similar engines, not for the AUQ on the vRS, where it's builtin the coilpacks.

Won't be on our uk cars, in the uk they are only fitted to the older AGU 1.8T engines iirc.

The ignition module is only for the really old 1.8t engines with the bolt down 3 wire coilpacks. No vRS will have it, but some early 1.8t's and 4x4's may have.

What techie said, but... I think we have 1 member in the UK taht had one. It was on a pre-facelift octavia, maybe a 1998/1999 model.

ok....sorry!

My 2001 4x4 with ARX engine doesn't have one

That's the power output stage and these haven't been used since 2000ish. Whilst it is called an Ignition Control Mudule, it isn't.

Just like a CPU and its heatsink, you use the absolute minimum heatsink compound between the module and the fitting it bolts onto. If it has never been removed/replaced, then it has very little compound on it.

Won't be on our uk cars, in the uk they are only fitted to the older AGU 1.8T engines iirc.

ahh excellent yes, that was exactly my thought when i read the op, glad somebody else confirmed it

i need to find one of those things now i think of it, and an airflow meter from same
