Quick annual review

Featured Replies

My lease car 2wd 110bhp elegance in postman pat red was 1 year old on Monday. Thought I would do a quick review

18200 miles, averaged 46mpg overall based on fuel bought, but maxidot average is 51. Never had to top up the oil, still halfway on the dipstick. Drinks washer fluid when the lights are on though, up to 5lt every 1000 miles.

No breakdowns or serious faults but a few issues:

rear off side window started bouncing open after closing with the key, had to delve ito the manual and reset it.

Seems to clatter from the rear suspention, have asked the dealer to check in its first service next week. Sounds like very slight play somewhere in a linkage or joint.

Had a blow out on the A38 a few months ago, wish I had specified the spare now following the hassle and delay, thank god it happened during working hours and the tyre could be replaced, otherwise the vehicle would have had to be relayed home.

Windscreen seems to attract stones, have a small crack at the moment, been advised to wait until it breaks properly before replacing as repair is impossible.

Good points:

Still love the styling, postmasn pat effect is great. Reminds me of a Tonka Toy for adults.

Economical

Will go almost anywhere, I do a fair bit of offroading for work, but have never needed 4wd for this so far, ground clearance is the most important thing.

Easy to get into and high driving position.

Can't believe how good the brakes are, tried them in earnest a few weeks ago and stopped when I didn't think I would be able to with the brake emergency assit doing its thing perfectly.

Handles like a go kart, almost as much fun as the old mini used to be.

Seems to like to go fast, particularly on the motorway.

Bad points;

Handles like a go kart & seems to like to go fast! I seem to be inadvertently pushing on a lot harder and more aggressively than in my previous car at times, have to consciously hold back.

Often hard and bumpy ride, complaints from rear passengers.

Appaling grip from standard tyres in snow

No spare as standard!

Good review!

When I had my Audi A2 I had the exact same thing as well in the pro and minus columns: handles like a go cart on country lanes with no body roll, but also handles like a go cart over speedbumps (meaning you have to do them at less than 15mph!)

So in the Yeti for me it is like a Rolls Royce compared to the hard ride I had had in the Audi and can't ever complain of a too-hard ride. Nope. I can now take speedbumps at 40!!! :giggle:

I agree.

Interestingly my occasional rear passenger (24 year old son) whinges as well when we drive down country lanes....it's great in the front.:giggle:
