try disconnrcting and reconnecting the wiring to the seat. This worked with my Mk1. Be careful not to turn on the ignition if you disconnect the seat airbag wiring

It sounds a bit obvious, but have you checked the fuse?

Had the same problem, lifted the underlay carpet on the passenger side front & rear, drenched with water, sorted out the water ingress problem, dried every bit properly, rejoined corroded wire joints in the rear footwell section, Wella....seats started working again.
