Airbag light caused by seats ?

Featured Replies

i have just bought a yellow fabia vrs and the airbag light is on on the the dash ! i have been told by the previous owner that it is because he had fitted the full leather seats into it and the do not have airbags in them like the standard vrs seats ?

does anyone know a solution on how to sort this to get the light off the dash ?

if anyone could help this would be much appreciated :)

thanks chris

Black PVC tape over the LED :giggle: thats what I did when my airbag light came on, when my battery was flat.

Either fit front seats with side airbags, or do as the above person. Two choices basically.

Oh, and a possible 3rd option, find each wire (which must be disconnected) that went to each front seat and find a resistor kit that gives same resistance as the airbag ignitors. :) 2 ohms rings a bell

Or just decode them from the airbag ecu.

Mmmm how could i get it decoded from airbag ecu ? Is there a specific tool etc ?

You need VCDS, get the airbag ECU label file and find the adaption channel, the airbag light will flash a couple of times when ignition switched off to say they have been decoded but then go off.

Yes because the light comes on with ignition and then goes off.
