Hello, after cleaning my car this morning i went out in it and when i turned it off the fans kept running. I have checked the fuses for water etc and am now going to check the wire. Can anyone give me some advice? Cheers

If you have a diesel, it could be that the particulate filter was burning off soot at the point you turned the engine off, so kept the fans running to cool it back down. Have had it once or twice on mine.

No DPF on a Mk1 VRS, most likely a stuck thermo switch on the radiator.

Hello, where about is the thermo switch on the radiator? Will it need a new thermo switch or can it be repaired? Thanks alot, Theo

Looking from front of car, right hand side of radiator, 2/3 of the way down. Switches are sealed so non repairable.

I am going to book it in the garage sometimes next week. I have found that if i pull the air con pipe dont know if it is the flow or return, but it is the one at the top, towards the front of the car the fans stop. So i have tied it up as a temp fix so i dont have to keep taking the fuse out everytime.

Very weird, never seen that before!

Had the car repaired today, and it was a cable that had been rubbing and eventually shorted out. So when i was pulling the pipe it must have pulled the cable away. Wierd but atleast its done now :)

Thanks for posting the fix

Hello, after having the car working for a day now the coolant light has come on, i have checked the levels and also the fuse for the fan as it says in the owners hand book. because it says check the fan fuse am i right in thinking that it could be something to do with the work carried out at the garage? My ac also works sometimes and then will not, and the cover that covers the fuses on top of the battery is snapped and holded down by a screw, which the garage havent told me about so not happy at all :(.

Coolant light could be corroded eletrodes in the coolant bootle. Have a search, common problem.

If they broke the fuse cover, they need to replace it. Though the design isn't the best.
