Paint corrosion warranty

Featured Replies

Has anone had to use the warranty provided by Skoda on body corrosion?

I have noticed that a wheel arch is starting to rust at the front edge, and wonder if it is a valid claim or not.

Would be interested in how you get on - I have noticed that the top corners of my door edges are wearing through the paint due to rubbing on the rubber seals from opening and closing the doors.

What are the restrictions/conditions on the warranty? How many years/miles? Do annual inspections have to be carried out by a Skoda dealer etc?

I believe it is a design fault on the Mk2 Octy and others have had door seals replaced with a softer type and remedial paint work carried out under warranty.

I'm gonna wash it tomorrow, so will take some pics and maybe ask at Skoda, see what they say.

Is that happening on the base of the arch lip where it bends in to meet the sill contour?

Yep, that's the one. Theres a chunk of paint which is flaking off. Is yours doing it too?

I had a chunk of paint fall off each side - like a large stonechip - touched the painwork up and its been fine since.

I had a successful claim on the boot of my estate - a common problem with them. I found more rust on the sill a number of months after, underneath some split underseal, although I have treated that myself.

The Skoda warranty only seems to work if there is no surface damage to the paint, such as say caused by a stonechip.

I had this fixed (design issue):

But then the crappy job by the body shop caused this to happen:

It was then sorted with some spacers:
