Immobiliser not working

Featured Replies

Fathers got a 2000 50k Fabia 1400 Classic. Unfortunately its been at the Skoda dealership a fortnight after being returned to them twice to fix the fault. The immobiser keeps packing up. The car starts but go out in, leave it a short while and then go back to it, and the immobiser light appears on the dash and it won't start. Leave it a few minutes and then it starts again. The hotter the weather the worse it gets.

Had to be trailered in to Skoda dealer initially and they checked it through. They fitted a new thermostat and sensor and a lambarda senser, recoded it and away we went. Only for it to do it again twice!! Dealers recoded it twice only for it to happen again. This time they've checked it through again and found all the faults they rectified have reappeared!

Whats all this I hear about an 'Immobiliser Reading Ring Wire' that runs from the ignition switch to somewhere behind the dash? From what I've read on here it sounds totally feasable!

Or does it need a new ignition barrell with a new immobiler in it?

We're getting desperate and to add insult to injury the dealer says it can't be looked at for another fortnight!!

My old mans 86 so needs reliable transport and has run Skodas and dealt with the garage since 1996. And only last year I bought my Vrs off them and had it it serviced their a couple of weeks ago.

And to add even more insult fathers now looking at buying a Vauxhall Corsa or Renault Clio!!!

So please help

Topic and post duplication - sorted,

There was a similar topic on this forum, where the immobiliser would not disarm in warm weather and a freezing spray would temporarily sort it. It is possible that the reading coil is suspect, which I believe is part of the ignition barrel. The wire that you mention is connected to the reading coil at one end and the dash panel at the other, they can be problematic on the early Octavia, but don't seem to a problem on the Fabia.
