Question about Octavia DSG transmission/gearbox

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone...new here so dont know if this is the right place to post!! I have a 2008 Octavia Estate DSG 1.9tdi ..it's my first time with an automatic and I know nothing about cars. Its done 101k miles and its starting to make a kind of squelching noise when i pull away..disappears as it goes past 3rd gear..worse on hill starts. Does this mean that the automatic transmission is going?...how does it work with the dsg.. do you have to have the automatic transmission changed (like a clutch on a amanual car) or is it the whole gear box? ...how many miles would you expect to do before these things happens..and if it was the transmission and it needed replacing, how much would i expect to pay from a main dealer (and for the gearbox ..if it was that?) hope I dont sound too ignorant and that one of you can help me.

Thanks Jane

Might be best to post in the Octavia section.
