Superb 2.0 Tdi 140 on Mk 1 Superb

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone - just joined this forum so pls be gentle with me.

I bought my Superb Mk1 in late 2009 (delivery mileage - the last one to come up for sale in UK) and so far it has covered only 7000 miles including one trip to Italy towing a caravan (I live in UK). In two weeks we are heading down to Spain and the dashboard says that a service is due in 1000 miles - so I need to get organised. I have always done my own servicing - that way I know that it is done properly. (Not quite a true statement I took my Audi A3 1.9 Tdi into my local VW dealer a few years back for a service and timing belt change - he said that it didn't need a belt change until the next service. Foolishly I believed him and when it was changed a year later it was on it's very last legs. He also said that the rear brake pads were only half worn but within 1000 miles they were scrawping metal on metal as I towed in the Alps. Hence I just don't trust dealers anymore).

So I am visiting this site to seek information on what needs attention at this first service (and at future services). I already have a Skoda oil filter and Castrol Edge 5w - 30 oil. The service manual refers to draining the fuel filter but this is not necessary for PD engines - do I have a PD engine? I have read on this site much information on particle filters which makes me nervous about reliability with this engine unless servicing is spot on. In short any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Welcome

It's not the DPF you need to worried about but the oil pump!

Have a read in the Superb I section and you will see what I mean - it only effects the 140pd fitted to the Superb.

(yes yours is a PD)
