What's it worth?

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I'm just about to leave my company and will have to give up my company car ('11 Superb Elegance Estate DSG. 2.0d Estate with lots of toys.)

Seen this in the paper and wondered if people had an opinion on the price being asked.

Skoda Superb Edition 100

TDI 2.5 diesel automatic

2005 (55), black, PAS, full Skoda history, aircon, satnav, leather int, new cambelt, alloys, all electric, Tax & long MOT, high mileage (c. 150,000) but excellent condition.

£3,800

Having given the chap a call, it's had two owners and was a demo model before being sold to a private owner. Now taken in P/X it's been shifted to a trader to sell on.

I think I can get it for £3,500. Is that about right?

Trade-in would likely have been around 2.5k, depending on the deal the previous owner got. That's what Glass's would reckon anyway. So if it's from a trader and you're getting some warranty with it, it's probably a reasonable deal. Might get down to nearer 3k mind you, or at least 3250.

Also bear in mind that the 2.5V6 diesel, coupled with the auto puts it in a reasonably high tax bracket; annual tax is £260. Economy also isn't brilliant considering the power output.

Wardy, thanks for the reply. I'll bear that in mind when I go to look at it tomorrow.

No worries. I quite like that V6 powerplant, but with the auto box you do pay a penalty both in tax and economy. That said, I think the 2.5V6 TDI manual is £245 a year!

I'd also be minded, if you are serious about buying after having a look/test drive, to bargain hard. As that combo of mileage, gearbox and engine might not make it terrifically popular as a 2nd hand buy.

If it were me in the market for one of these, I'd go 1.9PD130 manual, then a remap :)

Nice car if it's in good nick, bear in mind it is a ltd edition model and probably a future classic, personally I think the price is about right, if you can get it for less that's even better, they don't sell well so I would plant an offer of £3200 on the table and haggle it to £3400, however if I desired it so much I would pay the asking's, if you get turned down and they won't budge leave it a few months and then see how it goes, mine sat around for 9 mths when I px'd it.
