Eibach Pro Kit Lowering Springs

Featured Replies

OK, new car is sitting at dealers and I'm thinking "get them to fir the Pro Kit before picking it up". I've not asked them yet but can anybody tell me if they are still a listed part and if so, whats the part number?

If not I suppose I could buy some from ebay.........:wonder:

Lowered Suspension Kit ZGB1Z3071677

Don't know if it's still a listed part or not. Nb mine's a tsi estate.

I would take it to an independent specialist to have them supply and fit the Eibachs as it would be cheaper by some margin I suspect. Also don't underestimate the difference new dampers would make to ride and handling too, Koni FSDs are my recommendation although they're not cheap.

I can probably get this done at an advantageous rate for various reasons so I'll ask the question. As for dampers - the standard ones will have to do. I've had other vehicles with Konis, Bilsteins etc and to be perfectly honest, I'm happy to leave the standard ones on for a while in the name of value for money - they have only done 9 miles!!

Incidentally its a hatch so I beleive the estate part number is different.

If anybody can give me a de-facto part number for the ProKit I'd be gratefu

The Pro Kit is no longer a listed part from Skoda. However the part number you need from Eibach, which is the same 4 springs as Skoda supplied albeit in a Skoda box is E10-79-004-02-22. Skoda part number was ZGB1Z3071676.

There has been some confusion on the spring colour supplied via Skoda and Eibach but as far as I'm concerned black is hatchback and red is estate.

Remember the rear spacers else the wheels seem to disappear into the arch IMO.

Understand re vfm but if you do decide to do dampers later you've then paid twice for fitting. Of course you may be happy with springs only but I have heard the ride can be a bit harsh for some people's tastes.

It's perfect for me. I do 35k miles a year and I'm already on 15,000 and it's still far far smoother than my standard Leon FR

I have some recent experience of this having just ordered my company VRS estate. Originally wanted a hatch and pre empted the fact that I wanted the lower spring kit. I had a dealer search the whole Skoda UK parts network for OEM parts but as previous stated the hatch springs are now discontinued. This made me switch to an estate as I knew there were a few still available. I have one of the last sets at £130 from the dealer.

Dealer fit quote was around £220 but having spoken to Moley I have a quote from Midland VW for £150 for the basic fit and £175 for the full monty (haven't found out yet what the extra is for).

The dealer supplying the vehicle has tried to talk me out of fitting the springs but you only have to look at Rob's, Jonno's, Moley's, Sarg's and Oobsters cars to know it must be done.

I would be a bit wary of dealer fit as I am not sure if they have the specialised wheel alignment/geometry kit to complete the job. Perhaps one of the other guys has a view on this.

'The Full Monty' would consist of a full 4 wheel alignment which I had at Midland VW and is fully recommended.

II posted something previously regarding wheel alignment in Sussex so I'm well aware of the need for a full geometry check after these.

The reason I wanted them fitted at the dealer was for insurance purposes - fitted by dealer - OEM equpment, etc not modified!

Hmm, I wonder if I can wing it........I suppose I can because they are the same thing as supplied by the dealer

I *think* if they're not fitted at the factory then for insurance purposes it's classed as modified, suggest you confirm with your insurer.

.........hence my desire to have them fitted at the dealer!!!!

Still, if they're no longer available from Skoda then I'm buggered anyway in that respect and I'll have no choice but to have them fitted afterwards. How ridiculous - what were SUK thinking by dropping them from the options?!

Fitted by dealer = modified.

Fitted by dealer = modified.

+1, dealer is not factory. Whether the insurance would even notice is another thing.

So you'd declare any dealer fit accessory to your insurer as a modification? I don't think I would.

Anyway IIRC the last time i had a quote the question they asked was "has the car been modified to increase performance?" - a set of springs would not make the car faster.

Don't underestimate the lengths an insurer will go to to avoid paying out against a claim.

I think it depends on your definition of performance and at the end of the day it's the insurers definition that counts so better to declare and let them decide.

Didn't say if i would or wouldn't. You must be lucky as most insurers are 'Is your car modified in any way to the original specification'. This includes any factory fitted options, Xenons, parking sensors, upgraded wheels, spoiler, etc etc.

I disagree - this is a new vehicle which I'm asking to have a dealer fit a Skoda part numbered option fitted to. IMHO, there is no way this would be regarded as a modification by an insurance company.

To be honest it's a moot point anyway as I believe (please correct me if I'm wrong) the Eibach springs have the same markings on them from aftermarket suppliers as those supplied by Skoda. It's only the box that has the Skoda markings / PN on.

Also if they can't actually supply them anymore then its all for nowt anyway!

Incorrect I'm afraid. Elephant charged me £5 for my xenons as they asked for all my options. Basically everything you tick on the options sheet is a mod, especially dealer fit accessories.

some dealers do remaps, are they not a mod because that's how it was delivered!?
