Annoying Noise in Fabia SE Plus

Featured Replies

Hi all. I have a strange noise something between a rattle and a rustling/trickling sound, coming from the area around the speedometer/rev counter display. The wife thinks it's the plastic surround which holds the transparent cover in place in the dashboard (is it called the binnacle or something?), but i have trouble hearing as mine is on the way out anyway. Drives her mad though, so I am working on it! Anyone else heard it? I thought it might have been connected to the climatronic, but I don't think so now. Had the first nice long drive yesterday since picking up the car - what a machine - it really flies along (105PS)!

Yes...these cars are gems! Glad you are pleased. Not sure what the creaky, rattly, squeaky noise is though. Could be from the binnacle but my advice is to take it back to the dealer and ask him to check it as it is driving you potty. They will sort it. Just let us all know how you get on. Cheers bud!

I think there have been a few posts on noises of this type and all have been taken back to dealer for a look. Probably a loose screw or something not 'clicked in' properly in the instrument cluster.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies folks! Amazingly the wife poked about a bit (on the car I mean!)when I was driving and as she pressed the plastic surround on the display, the noise stopped! It must be something to do with that then, as it is intermittent, but it's a relief to know what it is anyway, as I am sure the dealer might think I am mad when I try to describe the noise! Anyway, I am so pleased with this car it seems a really minor thing, and will probably get used to it over time if needs be - it is normal to be hyper-critical with something new I suppose. Will probably take it in for a check along with the wacky central locking which is playing up still. The alarm went off this morning which was a bit of a brown trouser moment, as I was bent down checking the front tyre air pressure at the time!
