Who parks on the kerb?

Featured Replies

Well time has come to sell up and i wanted to get the car straight for the day she goes (no buyer as of yet but have some intrest)

Anyway thats another subject. Since being with my G/F im having to bump up onto the kerb to park the car (stoopid english roads are too small) and started to notice a creaking noise on full lock from the side that sees the kerb.

Now im lowered so always park carefully when on a kerb.... but obviously not carfully enough, 107,000 miles and the boot seemd to have split and caught it too late so had to replace the CV joint. :smirk: stoopid car eating my jetta moneys..

after 2 weeks F****king around i manage to source a full driveshaft and did the swap.... still get a slight noise........ talk to my garage mate who has a listen and tells me to do the drop link..... :smirk: part no2..... now is even less now! jetta money even less too... but still when the car is cold i get a slight pop/knock on that first turn of the steering wheel. when i had the hub removed to do the CV the ball joint seemd very loose so looks like i need to do that too..... all on the side which i creap up the kerb on, the other side is silent as mouse. will be ordering a Ball joint tonight and hopefully have it sorted by the weekend....

So who else parks on a kerb and noticed increased wear on that side? ;)

Not wear but got stuck a few times, curb sticking into sump and having to reverse off...

Yea, they're getting old!!

In't getting rid of mine just yet though. Love it to much.

(Never park on a curb if I can help it)

Mine Fabia is over 8yr old, but I'm planning on keeping mine a few more years yet

Mines not old :( will only be five at the end of September :)

I'm not selling up either, great car, and have no reason to move on. Hence spending money on a FMIC and soon to be Gareth's old Weitec's :)

As for your question, I also have CV boot problems, due to the angle of my driveway, the suspension gets full travel up and down going in and out. The nearside CV boot has slit twice now, and I think its due to it being the shortest drive shaft. No funny noises though!

Yea, they're getting old!!

I hope you're talking about the cars and not the owners! :'(

Nothing wrong with the fab at all - it is a cracking car and i will miss her loads when she has gone.

Collect the new car on saturday, and would still get whooped by Luke & Ross - time for some pre-planned mods ;)

Just seems very odd that since the CV, i have had to do the droplink too... now i have a balljoint sitting on my desk to go on tonight.

Its hit that age mate. its starting to cost more money that i wanted it to sice i got the Jetta.

Basiclly i took the big gamble and bought a car which would fall apart so i had something to work on and only have to service and fuel the Vrs. but 108,000 miles seems to have taken its tole on the parts and they need replaceing weekly at the moment.

Its been over a month since i have even started the Jetta up! i had to take a jerry can to tesco for petrol for it as i didnt want to risk running out on the way.

The roles just seemed to have changed and the jetta could be trusted more than the Vrs and thats not the plan for the cars. The vrs was the work horse/daly runner and the Jetta is the weekend toy which had stuff break on it

Its sad to say the Vrs is having to go, as everytime i get intrest in it i dont seem to talk about the good point and spool off a lits of bad  i dont want to sell it but its just costing me too much to keep :S  Which is a PITA as the engine is runnig soo good at the moment i cant fault that. :S

Well it seems im not over exagurating when i say im fixing it every week!

Since doing all the above i now have a knocking changing the first 3 gears..... Dogbone mount is shot! Deeler only part.... none in stock :swear::swear::swear:

I now have to spend a 4th Sat doing a 40 mile round trip to jack the car up and fix it again. (oh how i would love to see if i can break the swear filter but no.... this is a civil forum)

It just seems like as quickly as i fix one thing another fails. :wall: i give up. with this car, i have chased problems enough, doing this then its going up for sale everywehre :@

Guess what! i have a 32 yr old jetta which hasnt been touched once in a month! got in it the other night and it is exacly how i left it! i find something which needs fixing, fix it and it stays fixed :dull:
