couple more questions!

Featured Replies

just a couple of questions that i hope someone on here can provide the answer to:-

1. my car has a shark stage 1 remap running at 210bhp (with printout to brove) however when boosting the boost dial only goes up to 10psi is this normal? it does feel very very quick (i have drove subaru's and nissan pulsars in the past) however i have read that it should be boosting around 19psi after re-map? is this correct??

2. there is a ticking noise coming from a box that is bolted onto the passenger side front wing??? anyone know what this is and if it is normal

thanks

Your gauge should be reading 19 - 20psi. Where is the gauge plumbed into?

The noise will probably be the charcoal canister

Around 1.3 bar / 19psi yes. Drivers side front inner wing? Yes that does tick.

1) you should See between 19-21psi. If it feels quick you could have a dodgy gauge or trapped vac line, the lines should be as short as possible, where's it plumbed into?

2) without pics I'm not sure what's on the passenger side. If you'd said drivers side I'd say the charcoal canister and ye that's normal to be ticking.

**** yea it is the drivers side (im tired today just spent 4 hours washing and waxing her)!! when you say plumbed in what do you mean? its a custom fit pillar gauge if thats what your askin. you will have to excuse my ignorance im a complete novice when it come to stuff like this

Where is the vac line plugged into in the engine bay?

Trace it and see if it's ok and not leaking/caught/trapped anywhere.

If you've got the car I'm thinking of(belonged to a member on here?) then that's my old gauge and pod I made. The gauge wasn't that old when I sold it so should be ok. Although things do fail I suppose.

yea it did belong to a member on here its a brilliant car that has had a lot of looking after. i will take a look tomorrow and post my findings. i cant see it being a faulty gauge. if it is not a faulty gauge and the vac line is ok what next???

just had a though!! the guy who had the map done did tell me he had it mapped back as it was boosting too hard and causing lots of torque steer. so he had it mapped again but this time with less bhp but more torque thus resulting in a smoother ride.

could this be the answer?? however that wouldnt explain why the printouts state 22psi at 3000revs

just checked the vac line it seems ok however id does seem to take a long route to the engine where its plumbed in maybe the vac line is too long as stated earlier?? been out in the car this morning boosted up to 14-15psi. do you recommend shortening the vac line?

What does the vac line go into? It should be as short as possible

been to blackpool all day so ive not had chance to take a proper look. tomorrow i will find out where the vac line goes and make it shorter if possible.

will try to show you via pictures

just shortened the vac line (cut off about two and a half foot of excess vac line)took it for a spin but it is still only boosting to 14-15psi

here is a pic of where the vac line is plumbed in

took the car to ben at shark today for him to have a look at. turns out the car is running great with no faults, boosting at 19/20psi as it should! (said it felt quick)

it appears that i have a faulty boot gauge !! ;)
