I seem to find I'm wanting to change it up when its in this zone... doesn't seem to be giving me any benefit.... anyone else?

if you check Janner_sy's maping thread you'll notice both torque and power drop off beond about 6.5k

I was considering someone post up a standard map... because i swear (by my 'feel') there is no benifit (standard) to revving past 6300......

anyone else?

i agree.

standard power curves from my car here. Have other graphs but all mimic this

I change at 5500rpm personnally and that drops me right into the peak torque area, i find this better than revving all the way up. at the 1/4 mile i changed at 6k max

thanks for that simon, displays exactly what i can feel from the engine... even in sport or manual, (and I've been having some "fun" today) I find im changing up before I waith for it to hit the line as it runds out of breath, and then you feel you can hit the power again....

edit: yes its all dropping at 6k .. eariler than I thought.....

have a look on the VAGOC.co.uk 1.4TSI tuning section. there is a dedicated dyno graph thread with loads of power curves for you to have a look at to get a fair idea of the various power deliveries different dynos produce

Same with almost every car/bike I know maximum power is almost always at lower revs than the red line. I’ve only done 2,300 miles in my can but noticed this almost as soon as I started giving it a bit of stick. I thought the DSG may have been holding on to the gear so that when it changed up it would be dropping the revs into a nice fat lump of the torque. But it doesn’t, whenever I’m accelerating hard now I always change with the paddles around 6000, hanging on just stresses the engine and doesn’t seem to give any benefit.

agreed.

Turbo-cars usually have their powerband lower down then a NA-engine.

Depends on camshaft, timings and such. If you have a boost-gauge installed, you can check for when the boost drops down significantly.

I change gear at 6500, BHP is at it's peak between 5000-6500 and if I shift at 6500 I drop down to 5000 x).(custom software)
