I have looked through a number of topics but still quite confused as to what the problem is with my remote central locking. Hopefully someone can give me a definitive answer

The problem is the central locking will not work via the key fob. It works fine when I put the key in the door and the electric windows work fine too.

My mate set up the anti-hijack on Vagcom but was unable to set up the alarm beeps upon locking the door

The red light illuminates on the key fob so I dont think it is the battery

Can someone please shed some light on this. I've realised how much I take remote locking for granted when I don't have it! Thanks

Does the spare key fob work?

Sounds like the remote's been blocked via VCDS or de-programmed.

I only have one key for the car

Just posted this in another topic!!......this should resync the keys back!!!

Use the key to open the door then insert the key in ignition and turn ignition on (but not engine) wait for all the lights a dash to calm down then remove key, close door insert key into door and turn to the left and hold for 5secs then remove key and press the lock button on the remote......job done!!!

Yep!

Just to save complete humiliation, I have changed the battery and still getting nothing from the fob

Think I have got to the bottom of the problem. It seems at some point the comfort/control module has been swapped for one that does not have a remote locking capacity - doh!

Will have to get on Ebay for a correct replacement. Thanks for the other tips
