OBD2 Reader

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone

Completely new to this concept, so feel free to point the obvious out to me :)

Essentially looking for a cheap & cheerful way to get some form of readouts from the ECU (preferably to something like a pda/smartphone). Just out of curiosity of trying to find out the inner workings of what goes on electronically under the hood, and learn a bit more about the workings of it. Ive seen some ELM327 bluetooth devices on ebay for <£20, but have heard bad things about them, I don't need to be able to change things, so has anyone got any ideas on this?

Thanks :)

ps Mods if this is in the wrong place please move it :)

I have a Scangauge II that has successfully read & cleared several codes on different vehicles

cost around £120

it can provide useful info when driving so I leave it lplugged in on the dash

eg. -

engine load

water temp (- current vehicle does not have temp gauge)

speed in Kph handy for france as speedo only in MPH

trip comp & fuel economy

I got a bluetooth-obd2 thing at home, have worked fine for little over a year.

It doesn't work with iPhone tho (for you apple-fanboys out there) so get yourself an android and install Torque =D!

Don't use it anymore since I have VAG-COM for my own car, still using it for others x).

As per 2tite, I have a Scanguage which is very useful. Best of all it's reliable.
