Hi is it true that you don't have to use the vagcom cable to delete this service spanner?, just been talking to a lad with a seat cupra ex- vrs mk1 owner he said there is a way with the ignition key and trip computer switch to remove the alarm from the screen is this true?, anyone heard of this before its driving me mad ive done the service myself

For the Mk1 Fabia the instructions were in the handbook for clearing the service spanner, not sure about the Mk2.

According to my 2008 Fabia 1.9tdi handbook , it says "The service interval display can be reset with the reset button 6 ( the one that changes the actual miles to trip) as follows - Switch off the ignition, press the rest button of the trip counter for distance driven and hold down. Switch the ignition on and release the reset button , now turn the reset button to the right, the service interval display is reset."
