scratched plastic trim in door card

Featured Replies

I have a 4 week old vRS and the trim on the passengers side door has become scratched not sure how.

It is the trim that looks metal but is plastic and runs the full length of the door. I thought like my Golf I could just buy a replacement trim but no you have to buy the whole door card which is early £300 fitted!!!

Does any one know if the trims are available on their own or is there way of repairing it with of these trim repair companies like chips away. Has anyone ever used one . I live in Surrey .

The trim bits do have part numbers on the back of them, but I don't think dealers can order them. I guess they're not considered an individually replaceable part as they're plastic rivetted (even though they're easy to replace in reality with a knife and glue).

I had multiple scratches on my trim pieces, I ended up removing the lot & respraying them in matt metallic spray, looked perfect afterwards, refitted them with sealant agent.

Are you sure it is scratched and not split?

My drivers door one split and I got the whole door card replaced under warranty

Thes can be ordered seperately - nip along to a TPS near you with your VIN number and have a ganders at EKTA

Sorry whats TPS . I have been told by a Skoda dealer you cannot buy them seperately.

These would be the same Skoda dealers that tell you that unless you have a roof mounted antenna you can't for a Columbus to a facelift Octy? Trsut me, the dealers don't know what they are looking at. TPS is Trade Parts Specialists http://www.thetradepartsspecialists.co.uk/ - a chain of VAG parts suppliers. I use the one in Burgess Hill, Sussex. There is a fantasticly helpful young lady there who showed me with my own eyes the parts are on EKTA.
