...... what was inside the original factory fit tyres?

I know not many will know this or even remember now as its been 5 years since the vRS was new. I seem to remember there was something inside the std Contisport contact tyres I had on my vRS from new, sounded like balls of some kind but I am not 100% as I sold my wheels when I got the 18" mk5 R32 rims. (biggest mistake I ever made selling them)

I have never seen or heard of anything like that be done in aftermarket wheels or when replacing tyres so why was it done from new?

just a random thing I was thinking about while out driving lol its amazing the things you think of in the cab of a truck on a long drive at 50mph

I don't recall anything being inside them - and I watched the tyres being changed the first time :)

There would have been nothing inserted in the tyres that could move.

It would most likely have beeen balls of compound formed from the finish of the inside of the tyres. This is not uncommon sometimes they sre extremely small and I have seen them as big as half an inch. They look like black shiny balls.
