compession test felicia 1.3 mpi 1998

Featured Replies

can anyone tell me what the results should read on the felicia 1.3 mpi. as i an thinking of doing a compression test on my car but don't really know what the gauge should read. i took it to a garage to get it tested and he told me that the gasket had gone between cylinders 3 and 4 but im not convinced. i was losing oil and there was very little amount of oil in the coolant, when i studied the engine i found that i was losing the oil through the rocker cover seal as it was very lose now i have tightened it up im no longer losing oil or water. any thoughts as if this could be the fault of the low compression or would it be the head gasket.

There's no connection between the rocker cover and the cylinder bores that would cause you to lose compression. Even if there were, it would probably cause you to lose compression on all 4 cylinders.

As for the garage compression test, did he give you a set of numbers (ordered 1..4) like:-

Dry test - 175, 175, 60, 60

Wet test - 175, 177, 62, 59

Numbers like those would point to a leak between cylinders 3 and 4.
