N249 Mechanical Malfunction

Featured Replies

Hi

Today I received my VCDS cable, and found out that there is a fault on my N249 valve - mechanical malfunction.

Where is this valve located? (have tried google, but it seems to point me towards 1.8t engines)

What are the symptoms if it is broken? I have a feeling that there is a long spool up time, but it might be because I now know something is wrong :o)

Is it an easy/cheap fix? Any links for replacement?

I have bought this piston diverter valve from awesome: http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=13242&xSec=305

Is this the one? I will have it in a week or so to fit before a remap - highly recommended, I heard.

Best regards

Anders

On the TFSI, The N249 is the BOV and replacing it with the one you purchased from awesome should solve your issue.

I used to get this error when I used the Forge BOV on my VRS, the error would come and go every few month, now I replaced the forge BOV with the revised piston based BOV and the issue completely went away.

So you should be fine :)

Thanks :o) I have done a lot of search on the topic, but could not fine an answer before now :o)

Related question... Seems as if the car has a longer spool up time, and perhaps less power (hard to tell, as the car is new to me). Does it sound like the symptoms of a faulty N249?
