What next? Time for something more practical

Featured Replies

Looking to change my modified 4x4. It's a great all round car and if I could just stick in a garage somewhere for the occasional bit of fun, I would. It's becoming impractical for my circumstances now and the next car will have to be a compromise, ie a larger diesel for comfort, cruising and mpg. I have done over 15k in a year and don't really find the Octy that comfortable on long journey's, being 6'7'', as it has a sunroof and I have the seat right back so it's a 3 seater with my 2 year olds car seat being the 3rd seat...

It's averaged 33mpg, very good for a turbo 4x4, but 45-50 makes more sense now in anticipation of covering 20-25k in this coming year of ownership.

I wouldn't buy another Octy 2 TDI (didn't rate the VRS PD170 I had prior very highly), so looking at a luxury diesel cruiser. So far, driven a Volvo S60 D5, BMW 525d and a Superb PD130. So far the Volvo wins hands down on price, comfort, spec and refinement. Not looking at spending anymore than £5k. Any other alternate car suggestions anyone??

All the cars you mention above are saloons, altho they all have big boots getting stuff into them can be interesting at times,

I had 3 volvo s40's before octavia and i love having a boot i can actually use, well all bare the braces where the rear seat opening is
