Haynes Golf MK4 manual - any use?

Featured Replies

In the abscence of a Haynes manual for the Octy I was wondering if anyone has seen one for the MK4 Golf?

If so, is there much relevant stuff in there?

cheers.

I use the Haynes manual for the Gowf MK IV / Boring to look after two VAG cars: my Octy and a SEAT Leon.

So far so good :thumbup:

Very few differences and has been well worth the money so far: far cheaper than a trip to the local dealer 50 miles away.

It doesn't give any VAG COM codes but they can be sourced online.

I'd go for it :thumbup::thumbup:

Maybe a few of us need to hassle haynes for an octavia one, prove there is demand?

I've got the Mark IV Golf Haynes manual, which I bought for my Seat Toledo. Most of the mechanics were the same. The only real loss is anything internal like trim and instrumentation. Got an Octy now, again most things are similar.

Maybe a few of us need to hassle haynes for an octavia one, prove there is demand?

With the amount of experience and knowledge on here, we could probably put our own version together for the more common/basic tasks......

I would have thought it would be cheaper for Haynes to make a manual for the Octy since it already shares so many parts with the other VAG cars. Surely many of the schematic diagrams, dismantle photos etc. would be the same for the octy as the Golf ..?

Maybe they could even use the Haynes Golf manual to help them dismantle an octy !! :drive:

just did a search for "Skoda Octavia" on the Haynes website and got the following:

We have no plans to publish manuals for this vehicle at this time. This may be because the model range has not sold in sufficient numbers and we can't consider doing a manual until there is enough of a particular model on the road for us to be sure of covering our costs.
