Rear Shock Absorbers

Featured Replies

Octavia rear shocks, I'm going to be buying some and was wondering if the old 55/50mm item was only the front struts or the rears too.

Also is there anything else I should watch out for or change at the same time, such as bumpstops.

Ok well I can't obviously see any bushes at the rear likely to go except for the bump stops

The 50/55 issue is only at the front Mark.

If it's just the damper you're changing then yes, the only other thing I can think of is the bump stop.

All good then, I'll get them ordered up and since the bump stops have done 100k it seems rather daft to not change them.

Indeed. Which dampers you fitting?

Just a set of OEM ones as they are under half the price of B4.

Parts ordered are shockers, bump stops and top mounts.

Oddly the combined price of the latter two parts is slightly more than the shock absorber.

Good stuff. Yes, top mounts are pricey.... :(

But about £30 for the pair is a lot cheaper than paying for the labour to have the job done again :)

You win a little and lose a little, but at the end of the day I could do everything with genuine OEM parts for less than just the B4 struts. I'd think the slight difference between any shocks will be more than compensated for by new bushes :)
