What to do what to do!

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I am wanting to make a list of what modifications to do to the vRS, I have an obsession with my 106 Rallye I'm building ATM and want to spend some money on the vRS.

As is I have a LCR Splitter, painted grill, 312mm brake upgrade, Whiteline RARB & Mapped to 165bhp...

My idea is to keep it looking fairly standard but performance wise I would like to get a bit more.

What should be the best thing to get 1st and what next etc.

Andrew.

High end tyres and better suspension would be my suggestion.

Won't make the car any faster but you'll be able to drive it

faster if you see what I mean.

When I recently had a change of suspension I took it out on

to a local bit of twisty road near me which I know well,

bends which I used to take at a max of 60mph are comfortable at 80mph+

The car is no faster than before just more settled in the bends.

After that you're looking at stage 2 tuning I reckon.

I have Dunlop SP Sport Maxx on just now... got them free of charge from the Dealer as the car was sold to me last year with the bare minimum tread...

Which kind of a suspension Setup do you have ride height? and how about comfort with it? I would like it to stay quiet nice and not rock hard as the Rallye is bad enough for me! :smirk:

As per my sig I'm using Vogtland sport shocks and springs, only 25mm lower

than standard. But I wasn't after lows.

As far as I know, I'm the only person on here using them so I'm the guinea pig :D .

I was surprised that general ride comfort is actually slightly improved

but then again I'm comparing brand new components with the worn gear which was 80k

old. It's like a completely different car to drive now. It handles well enough

to use the power through the twisty stuff when before I would have backed right

off for fear of ending up on my roof...

Damien at DPM (site sponsor) is a great person to ask about suspension.

Drop him a PM and I'm sure he'll be more than helpful.

I'm so bloody stupid I even looked at your sig but it never clicked to look for it there. Nah i'm not after low either its all about how the car handles, for example I have heard that my 106 at standard height with decent springs and shocks is the best way for it.

I thought my car handles quiet well for example RX8... twisty bits... pretty good bit sketchy at some bits but then realized I was in the last 3rd of the dials if you get me....

I will give him a PM to see what the best and reasonable set up is to go for! :)
