Navi Maps v7.2

Featured Replies

Hi, is this the latest version? Is anyone currently running this on their Columbus??? I have 7.1 and wondered if there is much of a differance. Cheers.

There is no difference to the mapping. It's just a few bug fixes for certain VW Units.

Can't be too long before V8 comes along can it?

Next couple of months if it does come. Depends how long VAG keep supporting it. I'd be surprised if they stop yet though

I'm using v7.2 on my Columbus, with fw3984. Working perfect.

Everything can be downloaded. But if that's right or not is up to you...

Yes of course. Everything is in the eye of the beholder...

But then again paying several hundreds or thousands of euros to buy a device and then get no after sales service (by providing the maps for free as other nav companies do) instead you have to pay for them a several more hundred euros is a little frustrating. Don't you agree?

I totally agree!

Please name some companies that do offer "free maps for life"

TomTom certainly don't.

Garmain don't.

None of the car manufacturers that I can think of do.

It costs money to have new maps produced, so of course there is going to be a cost to upgrading.

Frustrating - but that is how it works.

Assuming you're one of these people who thinks that if they buy Windows once they should be entitled to the latest version each time for free.

Sorry - but really annoys me when people pirate software (which yes, you are doing if you download the latest version of the maps).

I'm a software developer, so of course i'm against pirate copying. But I'm also against extremely high prices!

If you consider Microsoft vs. Apple. Where Microsoft charge you with €250 for Windows and Apple only €25 for MacOS. I'm developing in a Microsoft Environment, but private am I using only Apples stuff, iPhone4 x 2, iPad2, Mac Mini, iMac and of course a 2TB Time Capsule.

Discussion of Pirate software, links to pirate software etc. is not allowed on Briskoda, as the question has been answered this thread has run its course.
