Tailgate

Featured Replies

Anybody have any ideas on my problem listed below.

When activating central locking all doors lock apart from tailgate, when powered up indepently the solenoid activates the tailgate lock.

I'm beginning to think it could be a wiring break but wondered if anybody had come across this issue before.

Regards

Kev

The tailgate lock is controlled directly by the CCU. The most likely cause is the switch. Check you have a good earth continuity (brown wire) and that the switch is pulling one of the control wires (white/blue and black/blue) to earth.

Don't apply a voltage to any wire whilst the lock and switch are still connected or you will destroy the CCU.

Thanks for reply where is the switch located

The switch is in the tailgate central locking unit. When you have the trim off, just find the connector that carries the white/blue, black/blue and brown wires. The switch is in there.

If the switch is OK, then check the upstream connectors as these can suffer from corrosion (common if you have a rear wash/wipe). They will be brown 5-pin connectors which carry both the motor and switch connections. There is one at the left C pillar and on the estate there is an additional one in the tailgate.
