Decating 2001 vRS

Featured Replies

If I would decat my 2001 Octavia vRS, would I need to remap it? Why would I have to do so?

yes you would, as it woud bring the engine warning light on, you would also have to have it done as you are changing the breathing system and to get anything out of te decat it would be best to remap it.

as said tho in lots of other threads mate, you dont always get the light on.

Think it all depends on the second probe location.

remap would be best as it would allow the turbo to spook faster and sooner so needs to be taken into account or I would say the rest of the sensors open things and do stuff to keep everything running to the set figures it needs so you wont really see much improvement.

Remaps are the last thing you should do to a car really, once you have all the other mods.

Wish I thought of that before I could of saved £££££

So get the parts you want on there to improve air flow in and out then go for a remap to use that lot to its full potential.

As Billy states and been covered in a few recent posts, a remap is not needed for a decat. The whole point of the O2 sensors and ecu is to deal with the constant changes to fuel, air mix and adjust accordingly.90% of decats will not throw a cell light. Why folks keep stating this I not sure.

It is a good idea to get car mapped after you have added mods so to get the benefit of the map itself and the performance parts fitted.

...............or just leave the car standard and avoid any issues down the line.

lol
