Can anyone help a complete noob updating their Columbus firmware?

Featured Replies

I know this has been done before but I am getting a little confused by it all.

I bought a secondhand Columbus for my 2009 vRS. My car is the pre-facelift model with the CR engine and facelift interior. The unit I have was working correctly in a 2006 vRS.

My FW is 1024 and the port is 1Z0035680A.

My main problem is that while the dealer enabled the Nav menu on the maxidot, I can't see them when in use. I just get a blank. The same with the Audio menu which worked perfectly with the stream head unit that was in it originally. The phone still works perfectly.

Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Eoin

Thanks Carl, great tutorial. I'm downloading 130x for pre-facelift cars now and will give it a shot and see how it goes. Have the original radio ready to pop in should it be required if I brick it!

Just remember that if the Columbus came from EBay it's herritage is likely to be "suspect".

You've got a much higher chance of bricking these units with a firmware upgrade.

Hi,

I followed the guide and updated my 58 Plate Superb II with RNS510 and MDI to 2764... all seems fine... except on the MFD the head unit is no longer listed. I only see MFD Phone and Setup.. so it appears I can't get the track listings on the MFD anymore. Is this a coding issue as a result of the firmware or do i need to dig into another menu to find it. Steering wheel controls still function ok (track up down / volume) on the left... hand side..

(oops wasn't there a 'Navigation' menu too ?)

Not a show stopper but it would be nice to get it working as it was prior to the update..

-- update --

all seems to be fine now... i was updating the maps to 7.2 after doing the firmware... maybe that had something to do with the missing menus... all seems to present and correct :)

Happy Days.

Any advice appreciated

thanks
