Full vehicle wrap so your cars match?

Featured Replies

Now I know this may sound a bit odd...

But I'm considering when the new car arrives getting it wrapped in Skoda Race Blue to match the Fabia VRS.

If I don't I will get a full clear wrap as I want to preserve the finish on the vehicle. It's costing enough and I hope to keep it for some time. Plus I get a bit obsessive about marks on my vehicles unless they are cheapies.

But a full colour wrap is only about £200 more than a clear wrap. And I think Race Blue will set the TT-RS off nicely.

The Audi blue is a bit darker. I want cheerful and bright.

What do you think?

Or am I loosing the plot? :S

Out of interest how much is a colour wrap on something like a TT?

About £1650 for clear and £200 on top for colour if it's nothing fancy. (like carbon)

Not cheap, but this is with a very good company that does far more expensive cars regularly.

Is wrapping it just to make sure cars match losing the plot? yes

Is wrapping the TT for protection losing the plot? no

Is paying £200 for a colour rather than clear losing the plot? probably not

Is picking race blue rather than any other colour losing the plot? maybe

Would love to wrap my octy matt or satin black but it's not worth much more than that :(

I have just got rid of my TT :'(

What colour did you spec? Sepang?

Yes, Sepang Blue with the ally pack, so lower front and rear lips (and spoiler supports) in silver effect. I think it'll look nice if I can get it a bit brighter, like my VRS.

With that in mind, i would go for a clear wrap...

I was taken back when i first saw one, Sepang is such a nice colour when it is in the metal!

You could have had the paint matched by Audi for £1750!

Yes, but then I'd still have to clear wrap it for £1650 and couldn't change my mind in a year or two and take it off. :(

Also not sure how an unusual colour would affect the resale value.

hmm true - a clear wrap would still chip and scratch, not sure how well this could be repaired?

I looked into it and if you get a rip (unlikely) you can redo one panel fairly cheaply.

Some years back I had a white Defender wrapped.

After two years when the clear coating came off there was no trace of foilage rubbing along the sides when offroading and where a Sprinter van rubbed his wing mirror down it. All the marks came off with the vinyl and the thing still looked a day old after 57,000 miles!

Thats ok then! I have 4 patches on my roof for where the roof bars sit, thats as far as i have gone! The front bumper i wish i had had done and possibly the bonnet. The bumper paint is so soft its unbelievable. It is covered in chips and scratches (not that noticeable, but i know they are there!).

Can't wait to see it!

Three/four months... :'(

Wrapping seems a logical step to protect the paint - Sky and Eddie Stobart have been doing for years, infact Sky's residuals on their vans have increased as a result. It will certainly protect the paintwork underneath.

So for another £200 why not have a colour choice - then when you fancy a change, go back to standard or a new wrap.

Nice idea,

Not as mad as Chris Evans having all his Ferrai's all sprayed white.

Have you spoken to Creative Fx in Bromley ?

Has anyone on the forum had any form of skoda wrapped yet? Clear or otherwise?

I like the idea of this as it protects the original paint and looks the mutts nutts! I was reading somewhere that the wrap is guaranteed for eight yearsish. Plus you don't have to inform the dvla of the colour change as it is classed as temporary

Sorry Rob, not intending a Psssing contest. :S

Just wanted to get people's views on if it's be odd to get an Audi wrapped in Skoda blue.

I'm wondering now if I should delete that bit from my sig if it looks like I'm a cocky sod or something... :wonder:

edit: Yep, that's better.
