HPFP upgrade or Stage 2 plus sports cat?

Featured Replies

I am unsure about which one will benefit me more. I am currently Shark stage 1 with my pre cat removed and am after a bit more power. I am unsure as to which would give me the best value for money. I can have either one or the other with money being tight since my housemove. I am just after what people think id be best opting for until next year when funds will be massively more available...stage 3 me thinks.....:D

Cheers Matt

Shark dont run fuel rail pressure very high when on stage 1 or 2, so fitting the fuel pump will be negligible till stage 2+imo looking back at my logs. But With the likes of revo who run high fuel pressure on stage 1 and 2 you will see gains by fitting the HPFP.

I say get a downpipe and stage 2, unless ben can do you a more custom stageb1 with more rail pressure.

Stage 1 and 2 are 110 bar max pressure aren't they? I would go down pipe too, stage 2 is quite quick.

I think I left not long after you arrived yesterday Matt sorry to have missed you.

I'd go do stage 2 personally.

They are on most maps. Revo is more like 120-125bar iirc

I'd go down the stage 2 route too. If I had my time over and someone gave me a stock VRS, fitting a downpipe and Shark stage 2 would be it.

Ben was good enough to drop in on me a couple of years ago and we ran his stage 2 code back to back (in his VRS) against my, at the time, Superchips stage 2+ - Ben's map was waaaay better. I sulked for a few months then went Shark stage 3 emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

What effect did the pre-cat removal have? Noticable? Worth doing?

If anything i think stage 2 was alot more tractable especially in the wet, which can make for a faster car in the real world.

No worries Harry. Im sure you will be down again at a Shark rolling road day :) All I heard was the loud exhausts of your car and lots of turbo spool...sounded awesome

Rob, since removing the pre cat the car spools so much quicker than standard and I got a few more mpgs as well. It also sounds a bit deeper too which for a free mod is worth doing.

I think I will opt for stage 2 and see if thats enough for me ;)

Thanks. I think I'm going to have to do this..

:)

Yup, definitely stage 2.

I am holding out for a Miltek DP from another member but I may remove the pre-cat for the interim.
