I have a engine problem and need help.

Featured Replies

:( I have an Octavia 1.4 16 vavle classic Y reg which has an intermittent engine mis-fire.

The car runs fine normaly but occassionaly when you put the power back on after slowing ,especialy on round abouts, there is a short "stutter" like a mis-fire.

It then picks up straight away and runs fine.

It does not happen from a standing start .

No warning lights show although at one stage we did have the engine management light on as well but the dealer stripped the engine down twice, under manufacturers warranty, after diagnising a "cylinder four problem", and this cured the engine light but the mis-fire remained.

We had the problem for some time before the light came on but the dealer asked us to return it with the light showing so that he could see it as the computer did not show any faults until the light showed.

The dealer lost the Skoda franchise and we now have to take it to another garage who are not Skoda but apparently are approved by them.

We are now asked to pay for the privelige of them diagnosing the fault as we are under an extended warranty and two sessions on the "computer" produced "no faults".

Skoda customer services are not being very helpfull even though the fault was originaly diagnosed, under their manufacturers warranty by a Skoda Dealer who made at least two unsuccessful attempts at a repair.

They also say that the diagnostic work is for us to pay for.

Anyone got any ideas what the problem is as we are running out of patience and have paid a lot of money for an extended warranty that does not appaer to be worth what we paid for it.

We were given to understand that the extended warranty was a Skoda warranty but we are finding out that this is not the case.

Any help would be gratefully received. :( :( :(

I'd guess it could be an injector problem, or maybe a crankshaft position sensor problem.

Have you tried running some injector cleaner through it?

Rob.

maybe a silly question have u checked plug's, leads etc??

I know this sounds obvious but re-gap the spark plugs to 0.65.
