Came across this, hint of Austin Allegro in the interior!

Just goes to show how far the Allegro was ahead of its time

Certainly was......more aerodynamic going backwards then forwards!:D

Which manufacturer is going to do it properly, and have the old 2 handle wheel, like the original Knightrider?

That's hideous!

Removable screens aswell, just jack a corner up and one will pop out

If you zoom in on that picture (or click here for a bigger version) you will see rounded squares are THE theme there. EVERYTHING is that shape, from the dials, the radio controls, the HVAC controls, the steering wheel controls, the horn, the top of the gear lever, the window buttons, the works. It really surprises me then that they left ALL of the ventilation outlets alone! :giggle:

I don't think I could sit in a car and face that interior all day!

For us younger pups, any pics of allegro dash?

Blimey @ the Allegro

You know, I've always thought that the 'new' Mini is really the 'new' Allegro. After all, it's the same size, the same shape. BMC came out with a lot of very good ideas, the execution often left something to be desired however.

Rob.

The SD1 had a quartic steering wheel too, but nobody took the mickey out of that, because the car its self actually looked pretty cool.
