Anyone went from a VRS Oct CR170 Estate to a CR170 Elegance 4x4 Estate?

Featured Replies

Chaps, I am seriously considering the Superb 4x4 Elegance Estate in CR170 format, when the axe comes down on my current VRS Octavia Estate next year, so has anyone went from a VRS Octavis Estate CR170 to a CR170 Superb 4x4 Estate? If so your views appreciated, I think it is the closest thing to a Scout VRS at this point (CR170 / 4x4 Estate!). Love my CR170 Yeti, and this has got me thinking the CR170 can do well in the Superb also? On my 2nd VRS Estate so a big change being considered.

I must admit thinking that this big beast of a car looks sporty enough in its own right.

don't know it it helps, but I've gone from a CR 170 VRS LE hatch to a CR170 Superb hatch. First impressions are that the latter is much smoother and quieter, but feels like a wolf in sheeps clothing as the power she lays down when pulling away takes you a little by surprise. (In a nice way though). Still trying to get used to the bigger size, it may only be 13 inches longer, but it feels like 3 feet for some reason. Handling is also a really nice surprise as you expect the superb to lean into corners, but you don't notice it if it does.

It's also surprisingly good on juice with virtually no difference between the mpg, which was totally unexpected due to the size difference.

Downsides, I miss the interior of the LE, the leather was one of the best I have seen, and certainly the best in a skoda to date. I'll get used to it though.

Excellent Martin, wonderful comparison there, I take it the DSG in CR170 form rules out 4x4? FWIW I have been surprised how the Yeti handles/pulls/drives with the CR170, has stoked my interest in the bigger estate which I think looks fabulous

BTW you have excellent taste in cars! (but I bet you are missing the LE seats!)

Yes it unfortunately does, as you are stuck with manual if you want 170 and 4x4. Same choice I had to make.

If you feel you need some extra oooomph, a stage one remap should get you close to 200 bhp.

Steve, I am pretty happy with the CR170 in the Yeti its performance was a real surprise!, so I think it will be fine for me in the Superb, interestingly enough I was looking at the prices of the Audi A4 Allroad with the DSG & CR170, Leather, et al. You can see why VAG will not roll out a Scout with DGG/CR170/Leather! Or a Superb with DSG/CR170/4x4!

For what it's worth, I've just moved to the manual 4x4 Elegance Estate and it is worth every penny. I genuinely can't tell it's four wheel drive for normal road driving. I've just given my impressions yesterday.

There's not enough room in the 170CR to fit the Haldex 4x4 and DSG.
