indicator relay problem? new problems! help please!

Featured Replies

Hey!

I just got this wierd problem.. my indicators not working at all, they might work sometimes like 5minutes and stop working again.. strange.

When i push the hazard indicator button (or what is that red triangle button :giggle: ) , all the indicators works great.

Is the problem with indicator relay? and if it is, where i can find it? how the relay looks like?

Or where the problem might be?

THX!

The 'indicator relay' is part of the hazard flasher unit and given the symptoms, is the most likely cause even though all the indicators flash when the hazard button is pushed.

Could also be a worn indicator stalk not making a good contact anymore.

Common problem. You will probably find it is worse with the engine off and a load on the battery (typically no indicators at all).

Mine was a similar problem - fixed by replacing the hazard switch (which also works the indicators). You need part number 1U0 953 235 B. About £33 inc VAT.

Given that the car is described as an SLX it will probably be a 1U0 953 235 F. Get them to order a replacement based on what you already have. They may supply the 47H variant in which case you will need to swap over the button (it just clips in).

All those are fed from terminal 75X. I.e. The X contact relief relay.

This can be found on the relay plate under the dash and is relay 100 (has 100 stamped on it in 2cm high numerals)

Take a look at post #15 in http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/177453-leaking-rear-washer-pipe-might-have-caused-electrical-damage/page__p__2138657#entry2138657

You need to replace relay 100.

Check the obvious things first. Check the fuses on the top of the battery and the battery connections themselves. Pay special attention to the fuses as a hairline crack can be difficult to see.

It could also be the battery starting to die.

You were absolutly right.. it was that relay what you were talking about.. all the problems came with that. It just wasnt "100".. it was something like "58" but it was in the same place.. next to 12V relay  Thx for the help!! much appreciate!

Glad it's fixed. All the symptoms pointed to that relay until you mentioned the starter. I've also seen that relay labeled '18'.
