Umbrella Size

Featured Replies

Like many folk on here, I also received my Superb Combi without an umbrella and I am b^gg£r£d if I am going to give easy money to the rubbish dealer here in Toulouse, France (I could go on and on and on about their incompetence). The car is brilliant the dealer is cr*p! Any way I still want to put a proper umbrella in the door so would any kind soul tell me what the size of the umbrella ready to place in the door storage. Then I can go and find a nice quality umbrella for probably a fraction of the price.

Thanks in advance

Phil

I needed a reason to go out in the dark and look at the new led side lights.

:rain::rain: :rain: :rain:

It's 28 cm long and about 6 cm wide, but it's a snug fit.

Just looked in the French brochure...my French is a bit rusty but it looks like it's supposed to be standard on anything but the base model??? Won't the dealer get one for you?

I picked up my new Superb Hatchback a couple of days ago but noticed when I got home that the umbrella was missing. The dealer said that there had been production problems and new cars had been arriving without them. When I pointed out that the brochure indicated an umbrella as standard equipment on the Elegance he agreed to obtain one for me. We shall wait and see.....

I know this is OT but does the net system come as standard as well?

No nets apart from the one on the 'transmission tunnel' come as std in the UK.

Edited for clarity.

What option includes the net then? I certainly didn't spec one but have it, only on the passenger side.

Ah! yes you only get the one on the passenger side ('transmission tunnel') but no boot storage nets as I thought you were enquiring about.

I was told Skoda stopped shipping them as they were getting nicked while the cars were on the docks! I asked if my nearly new Superb would have one and was told they wouldn't know until it arrived from the dealer who's stock it was, I pointed out that it was part of the standard spec just like the sat nav and as such I expected it to be supplied with one just like I expected the Columbus unit to still be in it. I have been assued they will sort it if needs be!

My superb was delivered in April, and it came with umbrella... pleasantly surprised, but the bigger problem is that I've never remembered to use it, and few times I was completely wet :(

Well i got the car and after i pre set the expectation with the dealer it do also have a Skoda umbrella, however it doesn't fit in the door hole and is stored in one of the boot cubby holes instead (of course I only have one for storage as the battery is in the other). I've had a bit of a pop but suppose I should be grateful i got one at all, lol.

Sounds like you have a MKI Superb umbrella which is longer than the MKII.

Grateful? no you should be supplied with what you have paid for :dull:

Fair point!

Maybe normal service has been restored, as my SE Greenline Combi came supplied with a nice auto open/close umbrella in black with the 'Skoda' name subtly woven into the fabric.

My dealer was quick to point out that it WAS there, but thanks for describing it as mine's still in the plastic!!!

Hi All my 2011 Superb CR170 Elegance Combi came without an umbrella or cargo storage nets even though it was specced as standard in the brochure. I asked the dealer about this and they said that Skoda no longer specced them in Ireland. I stated that they were standard spec when I ordered the car, the dealer then supplied them to me. It should be also noted that they are back as standard spec following numerous complaints. I pointed out and the dealer agreed that the umbrella was a key marketing tool when the MK1 was released.

Sorry to revive this after so long, but I thought it would annoy everyone if I started a new thread called "umbrella".

My combi arrived without the umbrella. An official replacement is c.£40. Is there something special that the official one does over a cheaper replacement of the same size?

In the marketing blurb it says that the umbrella will dry in the door pocket - but what would stop a cheapo umbrella from doing the same?

Nothing at all, the OE umbrella can be found here a little cheaper (still £33.74 though) in it’s defence the one time I have used mine it did appear to be pretty decent quality.

Presumably it just drips dry in the door compartment, which then drips through into the rain channel above by the door sill?

Yes there is probably a drain tube attached to the door pocket which drains into the door?

Almost any old collapsible brolly will fit. You can get 'em for £3.99 and who's to know.

I keep a fancy square shaped brolly in the driver's door bin instead. My B6 passat used to have an umbrella compartment built into the driver's door a la Superb - just that it didn't come with a brolly out of the factory.
