Rear Light Tinting

Featured Replies

I was looking at getting my rear lights tinted, but have been told that once the lens of the lights has been removed then the seal would be damaged...

Is this true?

If so does anyknow where I can get rear tinted lights for mk1 fabia vrs?

i would use lamin-x, its quite expensive but good quality. or u can use fly eyes which is easy to appy but doesnt loook as good close up.

Is this applied on the inside of the lens or on the outside?

The outside. google lamin-x

Is it easy to apply? And how bigger sheet would I nee to do the back lights?

I've just ordered some yesterday. I went for the biggest sheet for £25, should be plenty for headlights, fogs and rears.

With Lamin x take your time when fitting it

for best results. Try and get it in position

before fully pulling the backing away as it's as sticky

as hell. Try to do it in a clean environment too

as it will attract any nearby dust which will spoil the

finish.

Thanks for the advice. I'm only wanting to do the rear lights in gun smoke, so I'm guessing I will only need a small piece???

I did my headlights yesterday, piece of cake, so much easier than wrapping the grille.

I got subtle tint and it's still fairly dark, I wouldnt be concerned using gun smoke would attract a lot of attention from the police.

Tinted mine all red with spray.

I've done mine all red look loads better than the dark tint what everybody does. Do a search in fabia 1 red rear lights

If you lot had nearly crashed into the back of the car in front because you couldn't see its brake lights (as I have) you'd certainly think twice before tinting your taillights!

This is very popular with the local chavs around my area. They all tint there rear lights on corsa's and saxo's and the likes. Particularly in the day time it is very difficult to see the rear lights... The police have also began to crack down on this type of mod.

I agree it does look better but lights are a very important safety feature.

Which is why mine are part tinted ;)

Brake and tail lights are still red, Reflectors are un tinted.

Just the clear sections are done on mine. And I've passed 2

mots (at 2 different garages) with them like that.

Never had a pull either...

A perfectly legitimate mod when done with some care

and conscience IMO.

can sometimes look really dark and sometimes lighter just depends if the suns on them or not

never had any issues with police etc as lamin-x is perfectly legal

I suggest the latter statement is debatable.

I had done the opposite to grr666, and only tinted the red parts and left the clear parts alone. i used the darker black flyeyes. Lights are still perfectly visible too, and also no problems from mr plod

here is a picture of mine...

I bought some cheap black spray and did this...

A better upgrade for the older vrs's would be a set of 54/05 onwards updated rear lights

Looks much cleaner
