It's at the dealers!

Featured Replies

Got the phonecall this morning to say it's here and it's ready to be prepped. Picking it up Wednesday but going down Monday morning to make sure it's all fine and sign it over. Can't wait now I'm bouncing! Just booked 2 weeks off work so I've got plenty of time to get it waxed and sealed and enjoy it

They did say to use Skoda's 7 day free cover so I can get the car taxed and everything straightaway as they email the dealer the coverletter?

Just thought I've got loads to do by then. 312mm's off, stereo out, empty the car. Really wish I'd been told a bit sooner it was on the boat but it's here!

Nice one, bet you feel like a kid at xmas!

I used the 7 day cover to get the tax and do the plate transfer, no worries...

Only thing to watch is that their cover has a £500 excess as standard. Better off swapping yours sooner rather than later!

I will be don't worry. Do I get it from the day I pick it up or sooner? I haven't felt this happy in months.

Insurance needs to be valid and current at the time of tax disc issue.

If handover is arranged for Wednesday, I would have insurance cover to start from Monday at the latest.

Sorted I thought so. Thanks I'll ring them when i get home.

keep us updated martyn, I'm sure you wont be dissapointed :)

Sorry to be a bit dim but what is the 7 day cover?

My vRS is due to arrive (confirmed build date of tomorrow!) around the first week of October so this could be useful info.

Thanks

All new Skoda's come with 7days free insurance, as posted above, be aware that there is a £500 excess! You should get a bit of parerwork with a code and telephone number. Ring the number, tell them the code and they activate ur insurance and send a copy of it to the dealers for them to tax the vehicle

Make sure they give you a DMI cable of your choice! Mine didn't last weekend, but a call to Skoda UK has retified it :)

Does this document come from the Dealer once the car has arrived? Is it purely for taxation purposes? My plan is to visit the Dealer once the car has arrived, select the registration from the remaining allocation and then inform my own insurnace company etc.

The insurance comes from Skoda, they email the covernote straight to the dealer so they can use it to get the tax.

If you phone your insurance it normally takes them a few days to send a new covernote so doing it on the free 7 days, you don't have to wait around for your insurance to come through.

But as has been said it's better to get your new car changed on your policy from the day of collection as there is a £500 excess on skodas insurance.

Jolly Good. I'll use the Skoda insurance to get the car taxed and start my own from date of collection.

Good luck chap - hope you enjoy picking it up :)

Pics asap!

Nice one happy for you :) look forward to seeing the pics

afaik the dealer sorts the tax out when registering the vehicle and issues the disc themselves rather than nipping down the PO so the insurance is fine running from the minute you pick up

Well done wait is now over ;) no the worries start to creep in! " Were will I park it while I go shopping", I will let the missus go shopping while I stay to make sure nobody touches the furby ;) enjoy it don't scratch it !!

Shopping isn't a problem. I do all mine late at night in ASDA or Tesco, etc so a lot less risk of someone dinging it. Plus it's a good opportunity for a late night blast which is always fun. Everything else I order online since it's cheaper anyway. Speaking of shopping I've got a to do list of things I need done by Wednesday

Sort out 7 day insurance: Done

Get new clay and sort out my microfibre and applicators

Get more wheel cleaner and shampoo

Take off 312mm's and head unit

Book 2 weeks off work: Done! :D

Somehow keep the excitement down until I get it

Then after Wednesday sort out cheaper GAP insurance, change car on existing policy, detail car then spin up Brecon B)

Great news, you sound like a kid in a sweet shop :giggle:

Hope pick up etc goes well.

As others said take the 7 day insurance but make sure you change your policy to add the new car on the same day as your policy excess would most likely be more favourable to you than the skoda one.

Keep us posted

The 7 days free insurance comes with approved used skoda cars as well simply so they can tax and get it all sorted to drive off in. The insurance is underwritten by allience and has a £500 excess and £50 windscreen excess.

I asked them how much theyre quote would be for a full 12 month policy with them and they said they wouldnt touch me. However they did confirm the 7 day policy was still valid and emailed the relevant documents to myself and the dealer.

All the best with your new toy car! :) Get some pictures up...

:)

Then after Wednesday sort out cheaper GAP insurance...

I never noticed before i started working in insurance but this is not neccessary in the first year.

Most policies now will cover you for the brand new cost within the first year if you are the first owner.

Normally on your policy as "new car option" or something along those lines.

Might be able to tick another one off the list mate

Congrats for you mate, it's about damn time you got yours :giggle:

Just come back from the dealers to sign that form for the tax and had a look at it. Told them not to put the rear dealer sticker on, asked about mudflaps etc (see other mudflap thread). One thing they suggesting was PCP. Now I'm planning to pay for the car in full but they've suggested getting PCP for 3 months @ £160 ish a month then after 3 months ring the finance company and pay it all off. The reason? To get 3 years free servicing you need to pay a minimum of 3 months. Can someone work out for me if it's actually worth it? They reckon I'll save £200 but seems a lot of faffing about.

Oh and here's a pic. It's not much since the stickers are still on it. All my options I ordered are on it which is good. Wednesday at 10am I'll be like a kid a Christmas

That looks identical to mine which should be delivered on Thursday.

It seems as if a lot of us who have been waiting 5-6 months are suddenly receiving our orders (finally...)

I would check the small print of the contract carefully before paying off a PCP contract - there are likely to be early redemption penalties.

Good luck for Wednesday!
