Code P0116 WITH NO FLUCTUATION ON TEMP GAUGE!

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Management light on I week after service, bought code reader after some good advice on here, cde P0116... ENGINE COOLANT TEMP CKT RANGE/PERFORMANCE

There is no problem with temp gauge although it takes about 3 miles to reach normal temp.( has been that way since purchased)

THE COOLANT MIXTURE IS WEAK!!

Could anyone advise where to start on this?

Could the weak mixture cause this?

Should I replace temp Sensor thermastat or both??

I have ordered the haynes manual and I am going to have a go myself.

Also where is the best place to order any parts I need.

Thankyou in anticipation

Lavinia

If your assuming that the temp gauge is good because the needle doesn't fluctuate than you can't rule out the temp sensor.

The 1.4 16v's seem to suffer from these failing the most, mine did, but other people with other models have reported it as well... The needle always behaved it's self at the fault was intermittent and sporadic. When it was hooked up to a snap on computer you could see it jump around all over the place from.. reading normally and then dropping to -18'c, then up to 90'c and then back to the normal temp kinda thing... but it was never long enough to throw the needle which isn't very sensitive... but enough to cause all kinds of fuel mixture problems.

Thanks Rob,

Many of the posts I read seemed to have faults with the gauge if sensor was the culprit....but now I know thats not the case, I`m just trying to use a process of elimination before I try and sort this. Just been out in the car and engine light not on but the fault code is still there....so will need sorting asap.

Thanks again for taking the time to advise.
