Just completed Banger run

Featured Replies

Hey all, just got back from 'Banger Run 2011', in my 97 felly 1.3mpi (54hp) and am blown away by the reliability of the thing. 3020 miles at an average 80mph fully loaded with 3 guys and all our kit for camping. I'm now in the process of persuading the better half that we should keep the felly and sell the renault which is much newer. Will let you know how I get on.

Get shut of the Froggy monstrosity. It's a ticking timebomb electrics wise. And well done by the way. Any pics?

Agreed (on all counts!)

 They are a great car - get rid of the Renault!

If she refuses get rid of the mrs instead, tell her he can take the Renault too.

lol, post a picture of the renault and put it to the vote ;)

Renault is in background its 9 years newer

Its also probably worth less than the Felly :p

It doesn't look like a banger

Hmmm,

3 doors vs 5

French vs German/Czech engineering

Made of paper mache vs metal

Horribly expensive parts vs DIY

Not quite sure why she'd want to keep it really. Which is cheaper to insure and run? The savings in ditching the Clio could be spent on shoes, handbags and hair-do's ;)

Bet it's safer in a crash - young kids maybe a consideration?

Average of 80mph, eh? :p

Average of 80mph, eh? :p

Calculated by adding the speeds on all the tickets and dividing by number of speeding tickets? :D

Speed limit in belgium, germany, italy and france is 130kph which is about 81mph and 120kph in spain and switzerland which is about 76mph. so with a slight speed limit abuse an average of 80 can be achieved. ;)
