Knocking from Nearside driveshaft

Featured Replies

I have a Mk1 Octavia vRS Estate with the following issue: Under braking, and only intermittently, a metallic clicking noise can be heard from the front nearside corner. When I have jacked the front nearside corner up and rocked the wheel back and forth, a knocking can be heard from the gearbox end of the drive shaft. Has anyone got any experience of this, or ideas what it may be? I'm just after clues before I leave it with a mechanic to investigate further...

Noise on gearbox is normal its just backlash in diff inside gearbox,

Jack car back up again and put wheels on lock and turn it again see if you hear a clicking noise from outer cv joints
